mplcursors is my variation on mpldatacursor (https://github.com/joferkington/mpldatacursor), with a much simplified API.
Full documentation on RTD.
Install with pip install mplcursors (from PyPI) or pip install git+https://github.com/anntzer/mplcursors (from Github).
Run tests with py.test.
