Python package for interacting with a MediaWiki wiki

Project description

A Python package for interacting with a MediaWiki wiki using the MediaWiki API. Designed for MediaWiki version 1.14 and higher, should work on 1.13, older versions may have bugs. The edit-API must be enabled on the site to use editing features. This is still a beta release and may have bugs, especially when dealing with non-ASCII text.

wikitools will be roughly following the MediaWiki release cycle for major releases, ensuring that each release is compatible with the version of MediaWiki released at the same time. If you are using the development alpha version of MediaWiki (as Wikipedia does), you should consider using the development version of wikitools, which can be downloaded via SVN from the project homepage link.

Note that there is an error in the README file: the import statement at the beginning of the example should be:

import wikitools.wiki
import wikitools.api
