A GPU-based Tool to Map Bisulfite-Threated Reads
Project description
Cytosine DNA methylation is a stable epigenetic mark that plays a very important role in many biological processes, and is often responsible of phenotypic expressions. Bisulfite treatment of DNA is acknowledged as the gold standard technique to study methylation. Mapping bisulfite-treated reads to a reference genome represents a significant computational challenge. GPU-BSM (GPU-BiSulfite reads Mapping) is a tool able to detect methylated cytosines and to estimate the methylation level. Based on SOAP3-dp, GPU-BSM exploits the computational power of modern GPUs. It can run on a single or on multiple GPU cards.
