An AWS CloudWatch Metric Alarm Automation Suite

Project description

AWS CloudWatch metric alarms are typically time consuming to setup and maintain, especially for large numbers of instances. This means that scaling can be a problem and mistakes can creep in if each machine has to be configured manually. Even if we use Puppet, or some similar system, it still requires a more than trivial amount of work

Blue Canary allows us to easily manage these alarms. Based on AWS tags, Blue Canary will automatically create and update a suite of alarms easily defined in configuration files. And, to make things even simpler, Blue Canary will also help you manage your AWS tags automatically.

Using Blue Canary, just tag the instances with a specified key/value pair, define some alarms, and Blue Canary will create those alarms for each tagged resource. All tags, alarm info, etc. lives inside an easily maintainable configuration files, making maintenance easy, trackable, and sharable.
